📜 How the Season 16 Chase Works (Rulebook Section 2)
Unlike elimination brackets where one bad night ends your season, the Bandit Racing League Season 16 Chase is a pure, 5-race championship gauntlet with NO elimination rounds:
- Qualification: Strictly the Top 10 drivers in regular-season points following Race 16 at Martinsville.
- No Eliminations: All 10 Chase qualifiers compete in all five Chase events (Races 17 through 21).
- Points Reset & Seeding Separation: Regular-season dominance is rewarded on the reset ladder—the #1 Seed starts at 2,100 points, the #2 Seed starts at 2,075 (-25), the #3 Seed starts at 2,065 (-35), and Seeds #4 through #10 are separated by 5 points each down to 2,030.
- Crowning the Champion: The Chase driver with the highest cumulative point total after the checkered flag at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 18 wins the Season 16 Championship!

⚔️ The Franchise & Generational War: By The Numbers
🏆 THE OLD GUARD (5 VETERANS)
Lacy (#7), Foster (#8), Nickerson (#2), Knaak (#00), and Gibson (#31) combine for 756+ recorded SimRacerHub starts, 84+ wins, and 7 League Championships (Nickerson 4x, Foster 2x, Lacy 1x), while multi-time playoff veterans Knaak and Gibson hunt for their elusive first BRL crown.
🌟 THE NEW BLOOD (5 FIRST-TIMERS)
Sanderson (#93), Adams (#22), McDonald (#9), Rakes (#47), and Platt (#13) are all making their first Main-Series Chase appearance—yet they combined to win 8 of the 16 regular-season races (50%) and hold the #2 and #3 seeds entering Talladega!
🏢 FRANCHISE SUPREMACY
GFR Racing dominates the grid with 5 Chase trucks (half the field: #7, #93, #8, #2, #13) and 10 regular-season wins, while 937 Racing locks in 2 Chase trucks (#22, #47). Single-truck challengers ESR (#00), Legacy Racing (#9), and ZeroFoxtrot (#31) look to spoil the party.
🔍 Driver-by-Driver SimRacerHub Scouting Reports
Benjamin I. Lacy (#7)
Scouting Report: Nobody in the Bandit Racing League put together a more complete 16-race regular season than Benjamin Lacy. The Season 13 Next Gen Champion led the entire league in victories (4—Bristol, Michigan, Gateway, and the Martinsville finale), stage wins (9), stage points (206), Top 5s (13 in 16 starts!), Top 10s (14), and laps led (453). Entering Talladega with a 25-point cushion over 2nd and a 35-point cushion over 3rd, Lacy can afford to survive the superspeedway draft without forcing low-percentage moves.
Scott Sanderson (#93)
Scouting Report: Leading the "New Blood" charge is GFR Racing’s Scott Sanderson, whose debut BRL campaign has been a masterclass in clean, surgical speed. In 15 starts, Sanderson racked up 11 Top-5 finishes (73.3%), finished runner-up three times (Daytona, Bristol, Richmond), and broke through into Victory Lane at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Even more impressive: Sanderson logged just 78 incident points across 15 races—the cleanest mark of any full-season driver in the league. Starting 10 points ahead of #3 and 15 points ahead of #4, he is GFR teammate Benjamin Lacy's most immediate threat.
Joshua L. Adams (#22)
Scouting Report: After giving the league a 5-race preview of his talent in Season 15 Late Models, Joshua L. Adams exploded onto the scene in his first full-time Truck Series campaign. Driving the #22 for 937 Racing, Adams is the undisputed qualifying king of Season 16 with a league-high 5 Pole Awards, 320 laps led (2nd most in the league), and 142 stage points (2nd most), highlighted by dominant wins at Charlotte and Nashville. When the #22 starts up front in clean air, nobody is faster over a single lap.
Kevin Foster (#8)
Scouting Report: The Ironman of the Bandit Racing League, Kevin Foster is a 2-time BRL Champion (having captured the Season 2 title plus a second championship during the Seasons 3–7 span prior to full SimRacerHub archiving) and holds the all-time SimRacerHub record with 196+ recorded league starts and 105+ Top-10 finishes. The GFR Racing owner will celebrate his 200th recorded SimRacerHub start inside this very Chase (at Phoenix in Race 20)! Foster proved his veteran savvy with a textbook victory at Pocono Raceway in Race 6 and ten Top-10 runs across the regular season. In a 5-race non-elimination points battle, Foster’s ability to avoid the "Big One" and bring the #8 truck home in one piece makes him a perennial threat for a third ring.
Nick Nickerson (#2)
Scouting Report: If there is one stat line that strikes fear into the top four seeds, it belongs to Nick Nickerson. The 4-time Bandit Racing League Champion and all-time wins leader (53 wins and 5,198 laps led in 157 starts) missed 4 of the 16 regular-season races and still finished 5th in regular-season points! In the 12 races he entered, Nickerson won 3 times (Richmond, Darlington, Watkins Glen), finished inside the Top 5 nine times (75%), and posted a mind-boggling 45.5 points per start. With the Chase reset compressing his deficit to just 45 points behind #1 (and only 20 points behind #2), a full 5-race attendance from the #2 truck makes him an immediate co-favorite for Crown #5.
Jackson Knaak (#00)
Scouting Report: Carrying the banner solo for ESR in the #00 machine, 4-time playoff veteran Jackson Knaak is still hunting for his first career Bandit Racing League championship after coming agonizingly close in Season 12—where he finished 2nd in the final standings by a single point (3,042 to 3,041) behind Nick Nickerson, followed by a 4th-place points finish in Season 13. Though Knaak is one of only two winless drivers in the Season 16 Chase grid, his consistency has been rock-solid: 11 Top-10 finishes in 14 starts, 2 poles, 113 stage points (4th in the league), and only 80 total incidents.
Dylan McDonald (#9)
Scouting Report: Don't let the #7 seed fool you—Legacy Racing's Dylan McDonald is a pure, high-upside race winner in the #9 truck. Only Benjamin Lacy (4) won more races in Season 16 than McDonald, who captured the Daytona Season Opener (R1), stormed from 23rd to win at Texas Motor Speedway (R12), and conquered Phoenix Raceway (R15) just two weeks ago! Look closely at where McDonald’s three victories came: superspeedways, 1.5-mile intermediates, and Phoenix—which happen to be the exact track types waiting in the 5-race Chase!
Michael Rakes (#47)
Scouting Report: Pairing with teammate Joshua Adams to give 937 Racing two first-time Chase contenders is Michael Rakes in the #47 truck. In his debut Bandit Racing League season, Rakes proved to be the ultimate cerebral tactician—recording 10 Top-10 finishes in 15 starts and pulling off a brilliant fuel-mileage strategy masterclass to win at Kansas Speedway in Race 11. When cautions fall at unusual intervals or green-flag runs stretch fuel tanks to the limit, Rakes and the #47 pit box always seem to make the winning call.
Connor Gibson (#31)
Scouting Report: Nobody in the Bandit Racing League has been closer to the mountaintop without taking home the ring than ZeroFoxtrot flagship driver Connor Gibson. Having qualified for five consecutive main-series playoffs (S11–S14, S16), Gibson famously tied Benjamin Lacy at 3,081 points in the Season 13 finale—losing the championship solely on the season-wins tiebreaker—before returning to the Championship 4 again in Season 14 (P4). With runner-up finishes at Atlanta and Nashville this season and 74 career Top 10s in 131 starts, Gibson is a battle-hardened survivor who thrives when chaos erupts around him.
Johnathon Platt (#13)
Scouting Report: Rounding out the Chase grid in the #10 seed is arguably the most dangerous "10th-place qualifier" in league history. While Johnathon Platt is making his first full Main-Series Chase appearance—having previously run part-time schedules across Seasons 2 through 14—he is a decorated BRL veteran who won the 2019 BRL Super Late Model Championship and dominated Season 15 Late Models with 6 wins, 6 poles, and 804 laps led. Despite missing three regular-season races in Season 16, Platt won at Atlanta, captured 3 stage wins, and held off a fierce bubble battle at Martinsville to lock the #13 GFR Racing truck into the postseason.
