Race Recap: Nick Nickerson drove a precision masterclass at Darlington Raceway, surviving 130 grueling laps under the lights in "Filming the Wild 130" presented by Clear Low Communications to take the checkered flag for GFR Racing. Newest driver Korey Denson made his official league debut in the #36 car for Legacy Racing!
Known across motorsports as the track that's "Too Tough To Tame," Darlington Raceway's asymmetric egg-shaped oval lived up to its legendary reputation for Turn 10 of the Bandit Racing League Season 16 championship battle.
From the drop of the green flag, drivers brushed the outside retaining wall searching for maximum momentum off Turn 2 and Turn 4. Navigating the razor-thin margin between speed and destruction tested every driver's nerve, resulting in dramatic door-to-door battles and heart-stopping saves throughout the night.
Debut of Newest Driver Korey Denson
A major storyline heading into the evening was the debut of Korey Denson, who officially signed with Legacy Racing to pilot the newly acquired #36 Legacy Racing Silverado. Denson showed incredible composure in his debut, holding his own among seasoned veterans and keeping his machine clean on one of iRacing's most punishing ovals.
Side-by-Side Drama Under the Lights
As the laps ticked down, Nick Nickerson (#2 GFR Racing Chevrolet) showcased masterclass tire management. Taking advantage of long-run pace, Nickerson charged into the lead and navigated late restart pressure, managing gap intervals with surgical precision.
When the final checkered flag waved, Nickerson crossed the stripe first to claim GFR Racing's 7th win of the season. Benjamin Lacy finished 2nd to secure a GFR 1-2 sweep, while Dylan McDonald completed the podium in 3rd for Legacy Racing.
